| Frankie Burcham, Stokes County Fire Marshal |
|
Back in January Stokes County Emergency Services put into service a Mobile Command Unit. In this unit we are using TM800 mobile radios. Both VHF and UHF. The capabilities that these radios offer us on scene are above and beyond what we expected. We now have the ability to dispatch and page on scene. The new equipment allows us to mobilize a dispatcher on large scale incidents and free up our 911 center. We also can dispatch from the Mobile Command if our primary 911 center goes down and we have already had this happen once during a severe storm. Emergency Services is a vital part of the infrastructure in Stokes County and now that we have the HYT mobiles and equipment we can assure our citizens the assistance they have grown to expect in the event of an emergency. Also, my staff is using the HYT TC780 on an everyday basis. I have found these radios to be very durable on fire scenes and other emergency calls for service. The cost is not bad either. With budgets tighter than ever I would recommend this radio to anyone in similar situations. The quality and durability is worth every penny. In closing, my staff and the other emergency services personnel that have had the opportunity to use the HYT equipment are pleased with the functionality and the quality that HYT has brought to our county. |
